Roland started his interest in floras as a teen working at local nurseries. Following his love for design in natural landscapes, he pursued his degree in Landscape Architecture at Cal poly. Starting Funk Landscape at 28 years old, he originally hand crafted plans and executed his own design. Working as a designer and constructor he has developed an extensive knowledge base and view point from both perspectives of initial design and practical install that’s built to last. Years in, he slowly transitioned predominantly into the construction world and works hand in hand with local landscape architects.

As a native of the Bay Area, born & raised he has cultivated an intimate understanding of our region's unique ecosystem, climate, and flora.
